Today was our first “Video Basics” lab with half of our new first-year Television & Video Production students.
The first part of the day was spent in the studio learning about the full-size Panasonic HPX-300 P2-HD cameras that we use for the majority of our day-to-day production work. We cut the students loose after lunch to experience with the cameras and practise setting up and troubleshooting them “in the field” (note: “in the field” in Vancouver usually means “in the rain”. Today was an exception!).
Our second set of first-year students steps up to the plate on Thursday – more photos to follow then!
So we’re not even back for one week and we’re already getting calls for our students!
One of our TV alumni is a Production Coordinator for Big Brother Canada, and they’re on a coast-to-coast open casting tour for the upcoming season. She was kind enough to drop us a line, and the result? A number of our current Television & Video Production students (both 1st and 2nd year) were brought on as PAs to help out with the audition process in Metrotown. We even managed to get alumni out to help out for the day!
(more photos to follow soon!)
That’s all, folks!
