Live at Friday, November 27th – 8pm!

Seven contestants eat their hearts out in in three rounds of full-throttle gorging.

  • First, we have three fine contestants making a mess of themselves in a pie eating contest. Whoever can finish their pie first, or whoever eats the most pie in 5 minutes, wins the round.
  • In the next round, we see who can finish a liter of a disgusting smoothie the fastest.
  • In the main event, we have a classic volume contest. Whoever can eat the most spaghetti in the allotted time wins.

Our super fun host will introduce our contestants along with a short b-roll clip that demonstrates why they’re going to be the eating champ of the campus.

Science World

On March 4, 2014, in Television & Video Production, by Television Faculty

One of the highlights of Term 2 for our first-year Television & Video Production students is our annual trip to Science World to produce a live cut of their centre-stage science shows.

TV students bring our Broadcast Pix Mica HD Flypack down to Science World, to wire and create an entire live television control room – from scratch.  The process isn’t simply turning on cameras – students need to understand signal flow, camera feeds, the intercom and audio system, as well as how to safely manage a considerable amount of production equipment in a very public setting.

The Science World staff love having BCIT Television there, as our sizable equipment setup generally becomes another exhibit for the families in attendance to observe, and we send the finished productions back to Science World to aid in the training of their staff.  Something for everyone!

TEDx RenfrewCollingwood – From Far To Here

On October 21, 2013, in Television & Video Production, by Television Faculty

Over the weekend, BCIT’s Television & Video Production Program took part in a local, independently produced, non-profit TEDx event, including special guest speakers such as Ann Makosinski, Rup Sidhu, and Valerie Mason-John.

TEDxRenfrewCollingwood is dedicated to discovering great ideas and sharing them with the rest of the world. The TEDxRenfrewCollingwood stage will bring unique thinkers together in a platform for sharing wisdom and experiences. It is a chance to welcome interesting people into the community and to  showcase and celebrate the dynamic ideas which exist in Renfrew-Collingwood and in Vancouver.

Together with Faculty and Alumni, first and second year Television students produced the HD event video, which will be edited and sent to the TEDx parent organization for inclusion on their website (links to follow when it goes live).
