The award will be presented at the Student Awards Gala, to be held at the White Oaks Conference Centre in Niagara-on-the-Lake, on Friday, May 23 at 7 pm EDT, as part of the BEAC Annual Conference. A clip will also be included in the Awards Gala and be up for consideration in one of two BEAC President’s Prize Awards (Best of Audio/Video) announced at the Gala, which will be streamed live. Congratulations to BCIT TV Alumni Ryan Pears!
Another big awards night for a local animator. Ryan Pears and his team took Best Animated Web Series at the 2014 Vancouver Webfest Sunday. Pears, collaborating with Holly Pavlik and Travis Gingrich, have created an animated web series centred around a comedic look at the lives of two video game characters.
What an amazing year to be at NAB!! Things are finally winding down for all of us at BCIT, after spending an eventful week in Las Vegas. For most of us, it was our first time attending the conference and it definitely won’t be the last.
We would like to give a special thanks to all of our sponsors who made this trip possible. Without you, the 27 students from the Television Broadcasting program at BCIT, would not have been able to attend NAB this year.

Every April in Las Vegas, broadcasters from all over the world take part in the largest broadcast and media trade show in North America – The National Association of Broadcasters Convention (aka NABShow). This year, 27 of our BCIT Broadcast Television students organized funding, transport, and accommodations to be able to attend the event.
Although the primary focus of the show is a trades and technology show where manufacturers from all over the world present their latest and greatest broadcast and media hardware and software, it’s also an amazing networking opportunity for the students, with 100,000 attendees from over 156 countries!
