If you’re interested in seeing what the BCIT Television and Video Production program has to offer, drop by BCIT’s Burnaby campus on Wednesday, March 31st from 5-8pm.
The entire Broadcast Department will be set up in TownSquare A/B so visitors can meet our students and faculty, and have a look at the Television and Video Production program’s new P2-HD production workflow combined with our new Broadcast Pix production system for live events!

So as you may know, there’s this little sporting event going on in BC right now. There’s a little bit of media coverage and a few athletes have come to town to compete…
The result has been that BCIT is closed-down until March 1st.
Of course, even if we were open, we wouldn’t be getting much work done, seeing as how over 120 of our students and staff are working (and everyone getting paid!) for various media outlets involved in producing programming for the event. From NHK to NBC, CTV to OBS, both students and alumni are working everywhere, doing anything and everything.
More than just a film school…

The Details
Over the past several years, more than 100 students each year have mixed with and learned from Sportsnet personalities and production personnel, along with local sports broadcasting and print figures at this annual Seminar.
This year sees our series of seminars and presentations focused on Reporting, Play-by-Play, Television Technical Production, Investigative Sports Reporting, Game Production, Public Relations, and repeats of our successful “Critique Sessions”, where the Sportsnet on-air pros assess student on-camera presentations.

If you get a chance to go to the Vancouver International Film Festival, be sure to get a ticket for 65_RedRoses, winner of the Top Ten Audience Favourite Award at Hot Docs 2009.
BCIT Television alumni Justin Cousineau worked to edit this very special documentary which chronicles the remarkable story of a young woman who requires a double lung transplant in order to live through Cystic Fibrosis.

Registration & Orientation
The registration and orientation will be in BCIT’s main gymnasium (building SE-16) at 09:00 on Tuesday, September 8th. Television students should look for “Gate E”.
You should also be able to print out your class schedule from the my.bcit.ca website, using the “student self service” option. There are a few last-minute timetable changes at this point, so we may give you a few corrections later.
