Realtime Video “Photoshopping”

Saw this interesting sample posted on YouTube this morning – a software research project from the Ilmenau University of Technology (Germany) in the area of “Diminished Reality”.

The software takes a similar approach to the new “content aware fill” in Photoshop CS5 and applies it to video in real-time.  It’s not flawless yet, but pretty cool!

Research project in the area of Diminished Reality by Jan Herling and Wolfgang Broll, Ilmenau University of Technology, Department of Virtual Worlds / Digital Games, 2010.
